    Strange little rev problem...again

Yesterday I took the bike out for a drive, after itīs been standing for the weekend. It felt just like last summer, before I replaced the Honda fuel pump with the Facet pump from the XRV shop.
When Iīm holding the rev on for example 3000 rpm, its dropping then up again. Also when I drive keeping a constant speed/rev, itīs like the fuel is cut off an instant.. Wouldīve expected that on the Honda pump, but not this one..
I could also tell you about a long time sticky choke, dirty spark plugs, a year old air filter and oil - but it feels just like the fuel pump failure from last year.
Second - if it is the fuel pump again, there should be an underlying problem causing the pump to be damaged..?
Any chance that the XRV-shop would send me a new one for free, since it hasnīt been on the bike for more than about 6-7 months? (Not familiar with the rules there, but in Norway when a part is supposed to last for eexample 3 years, you get a new one if it stops working after 1 year)
PS: Iīm doing a full service on the bike as soon as the money situation is better. Until then Iīm not using the bike as much as I want

    Re: Strange little rev problem...again

Facet pumps are extremely reliable so I would be surprised if there was a problem with it. Can for hear/feel it ticking away while the engine is running? Are there any other symptoms like backfiring on a closed throttle? I had a problem for a while which felt like an occasional hiccup (a 'psst' noise instead of an explosion) when on a constant rev of 3000 or less. I turned out to be a malfunction of the air cut-off valves in the carbs. What is the age and mileage of your bike?

    Hey Joch'

Let me put your mind at ease hopefully.

Was chatting to JeffKirby (of this forum) a while back, who also put a Facet on his bike some time ago.

He described problems he experienced shortly afterwards of the bike being hesitant a motorway speed, but it idling OK.

His problem cured itself after running for some time, and he strongly believed it was due to the engineering oil that was present inside the new pump (to stop it corroding after manufacturing) which he didn't flush out prior to fitting the pump.

He says that his bike is now running OK.

Drop Jeff a PM if you are still concerned.

i had a simaler problem with my facet pump the bike would run for a mile or so then cut out after 5 mins another mile, but what fool i felt like when i checked all the wires and found out that the wires i conected were back to front live to earth and earth to live and then the pump works a treat ever since.
