    Question Rev counter misbehaving itself....

Whilst sitting in traffic on my way to work this morning, my rev counter started leaping all over the place and my revlight - which previously got a good old drenching two yeas ago - started to flicker randomly....

any ideas as to what is going on.. i did wash the bike as per usual lastnight.... but this just seems odd???

To be safe next time it happens switch the CDI's to see if it stops.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

I'd check a couple of things first...

If the rev clock needle was dropping (i.e you were at idle 1200rpm and it dropped to zero) I'd suggest checking the earth to the clock.
If you've got a bad earth, it would break the circuit to the rev clock AND the backlight. Check the multiblock connector for green gungy contacts.

If the rev clock needle was jumping up (i.e you were at idle 1200rpm and it shot up to 3000rpm) I would suggest checking the output of the rec/reg, which you could do yourself with the aid of a multimeter if you have one.

    Good Luck

    Bob
