speedo malfunction

something else to check is where the cable goes into the speedo itself the part the inner cable locates in can go stiff and cause the tabs to bend on the speedo drive took me ages to work this out on my xr a couple of drops of oil sorted it out

I used Lithium grease as well, to lubricate the gear.

Since its been mentioned that this can damage the plastic what is the recommended lubricant ?
