Talking Exhaust Noise in Austria

Hi all
I am making a trip down to the Tirol in Austria again this year. I went last year but on my Pan1300. This year on the best bike for the roads there - my AT. However I have a Motad exhaust fitted and while not too noisey is not exactly quiet either. I am sure I saw a sign on one of the poay for passes that banned noisey exhausts but am not sure.

Anyhow has anyone had any problems - I dont want to cause rockfalls - I suppose it is more of an issue in the winter but better safe that sorry.

I could swop the exhaust for the old one - it is perfect but a tad too restrictive and the noise from the Motad bring a grin to my face.

Any advice?

Re: Exhaust Noise in Austria

hi
this may be out of date and misleading but I went through austrian alps every year from 2001-2005 and never had any problems. this may not be true anymore. beware of speed guns and carry cash as you have to cough up on the spot. either way, you'll have the time of your life. best biking I ever did. try swiss alps as well if you can.

Re: Exhaust Noise in Austria

This would be news to me - I live in Vienna and have toured around Austria for the past 20 months on my TA.

Tyrol will be great but beware this summer is absolute rats - I hope it changes soon. Where abouts are you heading? If you go east enough do the Grossglockner Hochstrasse. Slovenia (Julian Alps) is also well worth a look and easily crossed from Klagenfert.

Have fun and let me know if you want to kook up while here.

Re: Exhaust Noise in Austria

It is the best riding -as I said I went last year on my Pan European which is a ballistic missile for getting down and back and while much more capable than many imagine on the twisties is not as good as the AT will be - I am going to stay in Landeck in the famous bikers hotel - Hotel Enzian - highly recommended the owners a biker and it is the best.

Ok sounds like the exhaust thing will be ok it was just I seemed to remember a sign on one of the pay for passes -I will keep an eye out.

Speed guns - oh watch these - but fIr enough they are coming into towns so play the game cut the speed and watch the best scenery anywhere.

One of you said it would be "rats" - what do you mean? I will be West Tirol!

Re: Exhaust Noise in Austria

When I went over Grossslockner I saw few speed guns. got caught by one. I guess with all the bikers going there in the summer......maybe I was just unlucky. I did carry removable baffle with me just in case.
