How easy is it and what is involved in fitting a tripmaster to an RD04 ?

    Anyone done it ?

    Thanks

    Re: Tripmaster

It could be done with a little electrical knowledge and a truckload of money.

Not done it, but you will probably need...

    • To buy a good working Tripmaster in the first place.
    • To modify the wiring loom.
    • To buy and fit new clocks, as they are smaller diameter and the speedo contains the sender for the Tripmaster.
    • To buy and install a suitable front subframe to hold it above the clocks.
    • To possibly buy and install a new front fairing if it doesn't all fit underneath.

    Not that easy really!

You could always just buy and add a supplementary computer like a Trailtech Vapor HERE

    Good Luck

Seconded on the Trailtech Vapour. That's the cheapest option and gives far more info than the tripmaster anyway.

As BobA says, you'll need to source parts from the XRV750N - the last RD04 model. The clocks are an all-in-one unit so it's not just a matter of replacing the speedo. You will need the subframe too but the fairing cowl is the same. As the XRV750N only ran for a year, these parts are scarce used and cost an arm and a leg new.
