Strange whine after a long run

Recently after long runs (30 miles plus), after I park the bike, there is a high pitched whine for about 20 mins. Not loud but persistent. It seems to come from the offside read side pod. It does not seem to be coolant related (as far as I can tell). Could it be the rear shock absorber or the gas resevoir (or whartever it is) in the pod?

Any advice gratefully received as I intend to do about 600 miles ove the bank holiday!

My petrol tank cap whistles after a long run on hot days, venting gasoline I assume.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Thanks, I'll try removing the cap next time but the noise seemed to be coming from lower down.
Shouldn't the air come in or out of the fuel tank breather hose?

Let the OH sit on the seat instead.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

The cap is also a breather (through the key hole part), common problem when it blocks is the bike running for a few minutes, then cutting out. Opening the cap lets air back in and the cycle repeats.

I had EXACTLY the same problem in the past, after every ride, and on any bike.

To cure it, I just got rid of my girlfriend.

No I'm not from there but it is not far away from me. Were all set to buy an isolated house there when we moved up from Rutland but in the end it came to nothing but I love the name, which seems pretty daft!
