You don't need the black wire on newer type regulator rectifiers so as long as everything else fits you'll be fine.

On older models, the black wire's a 12v switched feed from the ignition which activates the reg/rect when the ignition is on. Newer units don't use the same principle so all they need is the 12v, ground and three alternator wires.

Thank you for the answer Alan,

I have another question about this reg/rec. Here is the schematic of xrv650:

As I saw, the black wire is in connection with rear brake light switch, indicator, turn signal relay, starter engine, fusebox, some light bulbs.... If I use this reg/rec (without the black wire), this line (black wire's line) will be in air - isolated (in the 6P connector)?

    Cheers,
    Alex

That's fine - it musn't touch anything else as it's a 12v feed that comes on when the ignition is turned on. It comes from Fuse C in the fuse box if you trace back through the wiring diagram. I'd leave it in the connector but grease up the contacts to keep them in good condition just in case someone fits a standard unit again in the future.

As Alan says, the black wire is there for the OE rec/reg to receive +12v, and it is parallel to everything else on that same circuit.

Insulate the black wire so it doesn't touch the frame/ground and all the other devices should continue to work OK.

Always good netiquette to pass on details of how you diagnosed and fixed the problem, for people that read this post in future.

    What was it?

Re: Ignition coils on RD03 (CDI burned)

Sorry for the short answer. So, I checked all wires on the bike(including pulse generator resistance...all you can check with an ordinary multimeter) ( 2-3 days) and I didn't find anything, like a shortcut. After that, I checked the ignition coils primary and second coil resistance. It was difficult to find a device to messure primary coil resistance because it is very small (0.1-0.2 ohms). All ignition coils was fine. I mention that although the messure results was good, I changed the ignitions coils (rear-the line with broken cdi) with second hand ignition coils. I checked this coils, too (the same value - primary aprox. 0.18 ohms , second aprox. 8.4 kohms). I changed the battery, too. More people told me that a failure of battery could burn the CDI. I checked the reg/rec messuring the resistence between the wires and comparing with the values given by Honda. In the manual is a table with this values. I found that most values was infinite resistance where should be 10-20 kohms. So, I changed the reg/rec.
This is the inspection I do. I couldn't say that it was the reg/rec, the battery, a coincidence, the age of CDI's...
If you have any questions, I'll answer with pleasure.
My work was easier with the documentation sent by BobA. So, thank you again and thank you all, for your advices and promptitude.

    Cheers,
    Alex
