Re: Stripping and Rebuilding Do & Do not

About 50 miles from me bro. You interested in it?

Funny thing is, I was looking the other day on e-bay and there were a few of these things for sale at reasonable prices. They go on for ever.

There's a police inspector who did the 'Welsh 2 day Enduro' on one. Tweeked the suspension a bit but he finished.

First off, have a look at this site -

    Honda Motorbike Parts

If you put in the VIN number, the site will respond with all the correct parts fiches for your bike. From these you can get the required part numbers which you can then put into this site -

David Silver Spares - Search By Part Number

    Job done.

For other, more generic spares, it is worth checking out Wemoto here -

The UK’s biggest choice of motorcycle parts for Japanese and European machines.

There shouldn't be too much trouble getting the spares, although the prices of some will cause an involuntary in-drawing of breath. But that's one of the joys of owning such a classic machine.
Not having any luck when I punch in VIN or search by model, being an '88 XRV650....

I've put them on my 'flickr' site, under the album heading of 'Africa Twin Strip-down'

Hope this link works.. Africa Twin Strip-down Pictures - a set on Flickr

Hi There, Sorry but you didn't give your name.

There are far too many images to prep for upload I'm afraid but if you go to my 'Flickr' site and just do a screen grab of any photographs that you feel might help, your welcome to use them. I'm sure you'll not need all the images in that series anyway.

    Well Lads

Been off the Radar a while just hooking back up. Well where do I start twins are 12 weeks old , I haven't had a decent nights sleep in months and the shed is like a distant dream...............However the Paddy Dakar was a buzz.

Other than that bikes been running good, saying that it broke down three nights ago and I think I messed up the cdi , batt flat and hill started the bike went for a mile and died , went back to collect the bike ,jumped it and every thing working except no spark to plugs and fuel pump not ticking, bypassed pump (nearly full tank) turned engine and still nothing anyone any ideas?

Re: Stripping and Rebuilding Do & Do not

Congratulations on the new addition's Jonny. Their all wonderful until they start to ask to borrow the car keys..

Same thing happened to me a little while back, where I was coming home from work and the bike just died on me. It turned out to be the Reg. It was frying the battery and these bikes for some reason will not run without power in the battery. Pop a new bat on but check the connectors coming off the regulator into the circular plug, as this is the suspect area.

    Cheers
