Like Wingnut, I too am stripping my RD04 to refurbish and re-build the engine due to past mistreatment of bike (pre owner). [see AT Butcher in this forum for details]
Anyway, I've already got the bike down to just the frame, with everything in boxes. What I'd like to know is lots of little things like the rubber chain guide on top on the swinging arm is quite worn. Is there anywhere that still stocks this type of product.
The other question that I'd like to have clarified is about how to take the spring off the damper. The question was asked above but the cryptic answer I couldn't understand!
So if anybody could help here please.

Mike,
It's fairly easy to track down the spares you need.
First off, have a look at this site -
Honda Motorbike Parts
If you put in the VIN number, the site will respond with all the correct parts fiches for your bike. From these you can get the required part numbers which you can then put into this site -
David Silver Spares - Search By Part Number
Job done.
For other, more generic spares, it is worth checking out Wemoto here -
The UK’s biggest choice of motorcycle parts for Japanese and European machines.
There shouldn't be too much trouble getting the spares, although the prices of some will cause an involuntary in-drawing of breath. But that's one of the joys of owning such a classic machine.![]()
Brrrmm - '04 XL650V Transalp in Silver
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Thanks very much for that Lutin.
Been looking at the different rubber components that are going to need replacing, (hoses, carb intake, chain tensioners) and so on and wondering how difficult it was going to be to source them.

Mike,if you find the part number for this could you let me know as I need one for my RD03. I've had a look on the micro finch in the Tech Data section but couldn't find it.
Cheers.
