The museum I work in has a nice line up of old bikes, none of which has even been on display (as far as I know, ever). If we got an RD04 here it would be a waste.....except when I'm riding up and down the grounds on it of course. Great idea!
My two penneth - you're doing the right thing going the restoration route. I plan something similar for my RD07, though it obviously doesn't have quite the same class as an RD04 (let alone an RD03)....
