    RD04 restore or sell?

I'm pretty sure i dont need to explain the reasons why i'm attached to my 1990 RD04, i have thought about getting a new bike but just cant let go of my tired, scruffy, reliable old bike so serious consideration is now underway about spending the money restoring her to her former glory. the real problem i can forsee is replacing all the old plastic panels to new. after looking through the threads i see some of you are making your own. Does anyone have a complete set that they would be willing to sell?
incidently i'm about to travel south east asia for 8 months and on my last trip saw a fair few dismantled @s covered in dust, this time i will be looking at sending parts back to the UK so if anyone needs anything let me know and i'll try to include these parts in my shopping list.

Keep her and restore her either to her former glory or treat her to a set of Marathon rear panels and possibly a rallye type front one piece fairing. 5 of us on the forum are or have fitted the Marathon rear tanks and I am working on the one piece rallye type fairing at the moment.

Either way you should keep her, she'll probably outlast a new bike if you buy one!!

    SILLY BOY!!!

You already know the answer that you want don't you, otherwise you wouldn't have asked an entire Africa Twin loving community what to do with it!!!!!

I guarantee you'll regret it if you sell it.

    Nuff said!

Presumably the bike could run off just the rear tanks, enabling he main tank to either be left empty or turned into storage space?

Hi Chris, no reason at all why just the rear tanks could be used (that I can think of)

    Re: RD04 restore or sell?

I have gone the other way with my tanks.

Yesterday finished a rear tank mock up but decided it was just too much work for extra fuel which I will hardly ever use, better off using it as storage space for tools etc..

So the rear is gonna be storage instead.

    Hey thats 5 + 1 kitped so almost 6 .

Restore that bike , that icon of adventure . Use the panels you've got and turn it into a Marathon , get some stickers made up or on ebay that reflect a year or rider of the Dakar . Its only a suggestion but Ive come round to it because all we are going to end up doing is cover up the greatest icon these bike are and every one else has tried to copy .

    Come on the Africa Twin!!!!
