    RD04 Shasta White at Halfords

I have heard it mentioned on here that Halfords do not have the code for Shasta White which is the basic frame and paint colour for the RD04 White

Well I have just been to Halfords and got a spraycan in NH138 Shasta White

Not cheap but at least its available.

That's handy to know - need some of that.

I probably wouldn't have even looked, under the assumption they wouldn't stock it.

    Good spot, thanks

    standby standby

I have just put 5 coats of Shasta white on my modified higher kevlar screen and it looks blue to me

so dont go rushing out to buy some until I get a proper look at it in the morning against the bike.

I will not be best pleased as it has taken me ages to prep the screen, hopefully it will change colour overnight ( yeah right )

    Hi
Are you sure you have used the correct colour and number of coats of the primer coat? This has a huge effect on final colour. Also remember you are spraying onto Kevlar not aluminium or steel.

5 coats of white primer, and 5 coats of final shasta white,

it looked blue from the moment it came out but I just thought it was the lighting and the fact it was wet,

just been to see it and it is a lovely wedgewood duck egg blue colour

glad it tried to screen first before the Marathon panels thats for sure

Will be having a final look in the morning before I head back to Halfords armed with the evidence

Re: RD04 Shasta White at Halfords

well just been out in the heated garage to do some tests:

3 coats of white primer on metal then 2 coats of so called Shasta white = duck egg blue colour

3 coats of white primer on metal + 2 coats of white gloss paint followed by so called Shasta White = duck egg blue colour

Both the tests and the screen are identical in colour which proves the paints the wrong colour

Wonder what Halfords will have to say tomorrow

you are doing something wrong, sir it shows as white here.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Re: RD04 Shasta White at Halfords

    Update:

They mixed it with too much blue in it thats the story, took my Panel in to show the true colour, no arguments really

Went to Motor Colours in Pickering and got two cans of Shasta White made up - their Palinal code is NH138M and is called Shasta White and more to the point is a perfect match.

    Resprayed the Kevlar screen and

lacquer tomorrow and the screen is good to go.

It seems like Shasta White is much more available than first thought.

Good work - how did the cost compare (Halfords to Motor Colours)?
