Took off the chain the other evening . Found that the sprocket wasn't a tight fit on the sprocket drive shaft , now in saying this its not too bad but I can see that theres play where there shouldn't be .
Ant advice ie carry on or replace?

There are loads of posts on this subject. How badly worn is the output shaft? Post a photo and you'll get some opinions.

I've noticed even with the guide plate on that it's normal for the sprocket to wobble a wee bit on the shaft....and that's with a shaft that does not have worn splines.
I agree, some wobble is normal.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.
1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
Buy a new sprocket and check the wobbleage!
I was worried about a bit of play on a 7000 mile RD04 I bought, and after inspection the shaft was OK. Test fitted a new Honda sprocket and there was still a bit of play, whereas a new nasty looking aftermarket one fitted snug as a glove!!! Needless to say I still put a Honda one on.
