hi gillman,
depends how deep your pockets areAluminium are the favored but expensive including mounting kit, locks and a rack if you dont have one,
or try fleabay for some second hand honda luggage-ut its side opening
I use those but if buying again would deffinatley get ally as easier to load stuff, just make sure their mounted so she/otherhalf is comfy on bike
loads views in the search section
There will be lots of opinion on this subject - check out my previous posting "Ali Boxes"
I bought a pair of Stahlkoffer Panniers - I am very pleased with them - excellent build quality and a very neat fitting mechanism which means that you don't have empty them to get them off.
The pic below shows the panniers - he also does a top box to match but I already had a Givi. Panniers are City Panniers
Check out Bernie Brinkman's site Stahl-Koffer Panniers. BMW GS and GS Adventure Panniers - mention my name
His site is all BMW but he made mine for my Africa Twin

hi Angelo,
did you use any particular Frame to mount them or their own supplied stuff,
they look really cool on your bike![]()
Gillman, how far are you actually planning on going? Obviously, further means bigger, I presume. I have HB top box and panniers (as below), HRH (wife) and I go for a couple of days and find these more than adequate.

Hi
I gave Bernie measurents to fit my Givi rack I saved the cost of the rack doing this as I already had the givi BUT if I did it again I would have him make and supply his own rack because it needs a special fitting which I had to weld on - he makes a stronger and better finished rack - he is even doing stainless steel ones and plastic as week as powder coated ones. You would have take your bike to him for a fitting though.
Honestly the quality of welding and they are 2mm aluminium is superb. Powder coated inside and out as good as it gets
I would go for the city panniers not the huge ones he also does - mine are city and hold enough - travel light and then the panniers are no wider than te handlebars.
Top box - I prefer the bigger givi one. Ali is nice but quite angular and expensive - nice as a set I suppose - I find they look a bit high but go and see.
Interestingly Stahlkoffer were the ony panniers at the NEC show and there were a lot of satisfied customers buzzing around - he was on the Hotel Enzian Stand

There's loads of info about panniers, choose which you like & which fit your budget & go for it, personally I find that you can get much more in a top loading alloy pannier than an equivalent sized plastic one that splits in half.
For lots of capacity, ditch the top box & get a BFO roll bag to strap on the rack - lightweight, 80ltr for about 20 quid from Hein Gerricke.

hi gillman,
Think Angelo said he had givis already mounted and he modified them.
But the link to the sellers site has offers for full set BUT its for bmw so youd need some modifying done either byyourself or at sellers premisses.
Either way they lookgood , I need to save some pennies.
Also do a search on here for ARDcase boxes, sure a member makes them and they have great reviews too
too many choices not enough time![]()
