Hi
I'm in need of a stainless exhaust for my 07
The first place to start would be "best and cheapest"
I’ve got a Laser on my 04 which seems to do the business
Any ideas or preferences or ones to leave alone
Cheers
Rick

I know a few guys run the Motad Venom cans, they sound really nice and are usually on ebay for £89.00 inc link pipe (sods law says there's none there now),
Both myself and Wigan Chris run the Quill T3 cans, again nice note and come in at about £200.00 fitted, a very professional bunch of guys

Sorry Rick, don't wanaa hi-jack your thread but seem pointless starting a new thread to ask if anybody can help find a S/S exhaust for my (92) RD04.
Cheers

Thanks for that M8 but looking at the advert, he's been producing can's for post 93 bikes where's mines a (92). I have sent a message to find out if he can help but will have to wait and see.
Thanks again

I contacted motad last year to ask if they'd be able to supply link pipes for the rd04. At the time they had no plans to do that (Maybe you'll be lucky and they've changed their mind if enough people have asked by now though).
Eventually I bought a used motad can from a nice man on this forum. The link pipe can be cut and welded to make a reasonably good fit.
I don't have very good photos of this to hand unfortunately, but this one shows the weld and pipe fairly well (just under the pillion peg - it's hidden behind there quite well and you can't see the join unless you get down low).
I had this done at a local bike shop that also make their own cans and pipes. Involved a little compromise getting it into exactly the position I wanted due to needing to work with the existing bends, but he did a great job considering what he had to work with.
The link pipe actually fitted (albeit forced into place a bit) before I had this done, though it was tricky to get into place, and because of the bends it stuck out at a bit of an odd angle putting the end can closer to the luggage rack than I was comfortable with until I had it modified.
Having the link pipe cut and welded back this way might still turn out to be a lot cheaper than buying a specific RD04 stainless exhaust. If you do this if you can find somewhere to take the bike to so the can size it all up, it'd probably be better, so you can check it clears any luggage rack you might have sufficiently, and so it's not going to hit the brake caliper when the suspension compresses.
There's some photos of an RD04 bike a guy called Chad here added a motad can to and he seemed to have managed to get it pretty much perfect without having to go to these lengths if you do a search (I think he just trimmed a little off one end), so there seems to be some variation in the link pipes (that wasn't possible with mine).
I think there's a post here somewhere from someone who found an ebay cbr link pipe that fitted on without modification (or little modification) too. Link pipes for sports bikes often go for peanuts on ebay (though I can't remember the exact model number it was they used - will be here if you do a search I think).
Thanks for that M8. Sounds like a lotta work. With a bit of luck they'll be able to get my original one repaired for the time being.
At least I'll be able to se the bike whilst trying to source another way of doing this.
Thanks again.

It wasn't much work really. The guy was very quick and had the link pipe cut and welded together again in only a few minutes (it took a bit of time sizing it up against the bike before doing that to decide where to cut it to get it as close as possible to where I wanted it, then mounting it back on the bike afterwards though - that's where most of the time went).
