    front sprocket not bolted????

Been using my AT for over 7years as a daily means of transport apart from the last two years and have decided that i need to use bikes daily again as I miss them. Done over 2000 miles on my At this year as pleasure rides but when I started using it as daily tansport again I have noticed a strange grinding noise on over run. Thought it was the chain rubbing. Ordered a new one as getting near end of life. Today really bad so took of front sprocket cover. No bolts holding it on. Its been grinding the front sprocket case. I normally do the chain replace myself but last time paid for it. Cant find receipt and was several years ago as not put much mileage on it. Today I was doing 70 on the motorway without a bolted front sprocket. Know there is not much I can do as been to long since bike shop fitted it but will never use a dealer again.

It's them welsh mechanics!! Gaffa tape and zip ties are standard tools!

Not to offend any welsh person on this forum or in the immediate vicinity of course!

Proper procedure in the shop manual is to apply a threadlock or locktite on the threads of those 2 bolts.

I think they must have been left out.I don't think there is enough room form them to work lose and drop out because the sprocket cover is so close to the sprocket itself.
There is also a locking tab that goes on then turns to lock the tab inplace before the 2 bolt's are replaced.

I would guess that they forgot to refit them

I have had problems with dealers doing services on my bike's in the past.
one which cost me half of my holiday because they did not refit the cam chain tensioner correctly.

Now I do all my own work it's a good excuse to get out the house work and get into the garage

All very well but if those bolts don't fit the bike the thread lock will not do any good.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
