coolant hoses costs original or silicone ?

Anybody ever replaced all the coolant hoses ?

No idea how old mine are, (they might be original).

would like to change them, to be sure none are going to burst whilst im out and about this year

Dread going to a honda dealer to get prices

thinking of taking all the removed hoses to an aftermarket hose specialist and seeing if i can get close enough in silicone (like samco).

What´s the advantage of silicone over the standard rubber type?

ALSO according to the blurb :

    Advantages of Silicone Hoses

Silicone hoses offer the best looks and performance. Silicone hoses operate at a much higher temperature and pressure than other rubbers, they don't perish.

Hey Anton - this is something I've been pondering on as well due to the age of the OE hoses.

One company I came across was SFS Performance, who do specific bike kits, and are looking to broaden their range.

Might be worth seeing what their minimum run is for a custom fit AT set of hoses........

Got some radiator / coolant hose for my mate to do all the hoses on his wr200 (which has 2 rads). Got it from Cornwall hose and Hydraulics £7 per metre + vat

Re: coolant hoses costs original or silicone ?

jason - thx for reply, but i missed it doh.

ended up buying various hoses from a silicone hose shop. Gone for wire reinforced flexible hoses mainly, as it was then dead easy to cut slightly overlength and bend and twist the new tubes to fit.

Had to dissmantle most of the bike to do it tho hardest section was the tube that runs from/to the water pump to the front cylinder - remove all bodywork, crash bars, grill, rads etc + move oil cooler out way, + remove some engine mounting plates.

Now its done it looks great, and the new hoses are a LOT stronger than the old ones.

None of the old hoses lookes like they were terminal, but they felt quite flimsey compared to the new stuff. As i said - old hoses could have been original (1990 bike) so glad ive done it.

Topped up with new coolant and distilled water - just got to run it tomorrow and check for any leaks and trapped air. Will get some pics up soon.
