    Fog Lights

    Hi all,
does anyone have any recommendations (make, type) as to possibly adding fog lights to the tops of the crash bars. I have looked at the touratech ones but was wondering if anyone had tried some others.

Plenty of fog up this way in Yorkshire.

    Cheers
    Nicko

Not really foglights but 55watt projector spots. Bought them off fleebay, £40 the pair.
Wired independant of lights so i can run them with just sidelights.
More so i can be seen and no glare from headlights in fog/mist.

had one touratech side HELLA Micro DE 55 W.

Added 2 more on the bottom for day light long rides for increased presence...

Then swithched the first hella to an emergency beacon... it flips much like cop's (illegal in Turkey and possibly on the continent/USA) but here in Turkey we live on by the adage "I am invisible and everybody else are distilled idiots"...so if you survive the mortar holes (anybod in service?)in the middle of motorways (not highways they are cool nd of equal quality vis a vis Eur.) there is a good chance you are gonna run down by somebody who will claim she/he did not see you!

    Re: Fog Lights

here you go...awfull quality though...dust in the air and I am techno-ignorant! Will take more photos out in sunlight. fooling around with a vinyl sticker design ....XRV Turkish Twin L'Orient.... basically orientalizing the looks with the national colors and the star and crescend...

basically what you see here is an R 1200 GS's D shaped upper fairing crash bar and the touratech's side pockets. Will take them off and let you observe the crash bar.

I welded two steel threds where I was planning on mounting the 2 hellas but benchmarking from a machine with a central "front" suspension system with very limited fork movement...my Hellas were gonna be doomed when the forks closed by some 15 cms...so I laser-cut two steel "fins" carrying the spots from centerline to the sides...getting away from harmsway imposed by suspensions during harsh brakes...

    there you go...

    Re: Fog Lights

Anybody have an idea how much electric using gear we can load on the system?

Electric is not my favorite area of expertise.

There has to be a logic to the total flow of energy produced by the alternator and the number of gear we can hook up on the system.

    For instance I have 2 x 55W spots + standard front lights+and a blinker (HELLA Micro).

I am consdering adding a heat grip too...

    ideas...

how far can we go? Will the wiring allow for alternating uses of the above or endure all at the same time...mainly the heat grips and the spots+standard front lights???

    Re: Fog Lights

Hi Nicko, your local Halfrauds stock Ring lights, you can get them complete with fuse, relay, cable and all the mounting bits you need with easy enough instructions
I've got the mini fitted which are tiny with 55watt H3 bulbs although I have changed the bulbs for LED as an extra 110watt drainage was too much to use as running lights

Thanks all for your pics and comments, going to pop down to Halfords in the next couple of days to take a look at their lights.....although I do like the shape of the projector lights. Could be a goer.
