electric balance sheet of a regular bike!

    Hello All,

I have the following standard and additional electric using equipment and I am curious if there is a thumbs up rule to how much we can drain on the dynamo?

standard front lights, indicators (probably negligible), 1x 55 W Hella Micro De (this is a blinker/illegal but a must in heavy istanbul traffic, it blinks just like an emergency beakon or like those on jets), 2x Hella Micro DE 55Wx2 fog fog spot lights....

I am considering heat grips...but thats where I paused for second opinion.

    IDEAS...RECOMMENDATIONS???

Their was a thread just last week about calculating electrical capacity.

    http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/africa-...wer-watts.html

FYI. The Africa Twin produces 360 watts @ 5,000 rpm.

    Here's what I've done.

Replace all the tungsten bulbs (indicators, clocks, rear light) with LED bulbs to save a few watts.

    It works.

really? 2 x 55 wats+ head lights+ heat grips will not be a rarety 4 me in long high speed rides...

I have not done the math yet but I am concerned the strain on the rect/dynamo will be considerable enough to make a difference by changing the bulbs on ears and rear...

but will follow thru with ur advise
