Question Changing the front end of RD07

    Hello all,

I had a small crash which resulted in breaking most of the front end stuff... plastics, visor, fairing bracket...

now I'm thinking about my options... buy used parts, buy boano replacements, go for ralley faring,...

since I need a new fairing bracket which holds the plastics, visor, tachometer, tripmaster,... and it costs around 160€, should I try to make a new one using the parts of the old, bent one? boano ralley faring has diferent front lights than original setup... smaller ones... they don't fit on factory bracket?

I'll start searching the forums for projects like this and If anyone has the parts I need please contact me... I'm in Serbia...

    thanks,
    Ivan

Jaysis, that much damage doesn't sound like a small crash to me, glad you're ok ! I'd definitely go for the fancy options if I could afford it though, what a great excuse

Chances are you won't find a straight used fairing bracket or cowl stay as they are known. Bite the bullet and buy a new one from honda (i had too) and then shop around for used fairings, instruments and blinkers on german ebay.
Don't ask me how i know.

Re: Changing the front end of RD07

    here is before:

    and after:

the crash was at 30-40kmph... the car in front of us braked hard... tried to avoid hitting it straight on... went around it but the driver went left at the same moment I did (people never check their rear view mirrors in Serbia )... he hit my side case, bike fell on it's side and went head first to the side of the road... I've got a few bruises and girlfriend got a few scratches... so the bike got the most of injuries

the parts I found on ebay are like:

    160€ for fairing bracket
    60£ - 150€ for clocks
    90€ for front plastic
    75€ MRA Vario Touring Screen
75€ for rear case plastic mount

now I'm looking at local shops and crashed bikes to buy the front end in bulk...

but the more I look at rally fairing the more I want it

boano has one for RD04 (I hope they make the same one for RD07 or this one fits on RD07)
Boano Extreme Racing - Scheda prodotto

    and the lights
Boano Extreme Racing - Scheda prodotto

and they have the instrument holder which I don't like
Boano Extreme Racing - Scheda prodotto

and they have the whole thing bulked for 690€:
Boano Extreme Racing - Scheda prodotto

in this pack you get the aluminium front frame which I didn't find as a separate item on their site...

I think that front frame can be made (was looking at flicker galery of one of the members Africa Twin - a set on Flickr)

so, 270€ for the fairing and 110€ for the lights... need to find some instruments that would fit in the fairing...

need to think some more MRA was better protection from bugs and wind and these two small headlights don't look like they'll do the job as well as my two H4 Osram Nightbreakers... what are the pros and cons for rally fairing? it looks more like ktm 640 adv?

    take care,
    ivan
