will an RD04 rear shock fit an RD07a?

As title says, I have an RD04 shock kicking about and I notice it is an adjustable SHOWA unit. My RD07a has the standard non adjustable shock. Would the RD04 shock fit in? I hope someone will know as it will save me stripping my bike to find out

yup it might,

but it is about 15mm shorter and so will lower the back end by about 40mm, also the gas chamber mounts on the left and the hose exits at a different angle..

how do I know this... I bought ( now sold on ) an 07 shock to fit to my RD04.. though it might be shorter and mine need refurbishing

anyway.. its longer and wont fit an RD04 as the gas chambers is on the right and fouls the Air box
