    Honda centre stand £79.95

Just bought a centre stand from david silver for £79.95 + vat + postage
Did buy a few other items so the postage of £11.75 was well spread
So for under £100 I got a brand new honda centre stand to my door
    Well chuffed
The cheapest stand on ebay comes in at £115 then rising

Anyhow I'm rambling so to the point.

    1.
The stand came with a bracket that attaches to the left rear footrest to assist with getting the bike up onto the said stand.
Do any of you use this bracket?
    Is it worth fitting
I only intend using the stand to clean and service the bike.

    2.
As you have to take the compete exhaust of to fit this I discovered that the clamp holding to two manafold pipes together has rotted away.
Is there another clamp that will not fall apart in a few years available
If so can you guys point me in the right direction.
    Thanks

I have exactly the same stand fitted to my vara Loudpedal for the same reasons..

Lucky that I had my stand fitted as a sneaky extra as part of an insurance job.... Got to admit they said it took some time to fit but I do not have the piece fitted to the footrest like you mentioned..

It's still a bit of a lump to lift up but you get used to it and I could not be without it now.. ..

    Good Luck..

    Hi Loudpedal

Having a centrestand fitted on the AT will help you no end . Should have had one on from standard

The triangular handle could be handy if you're unable to lift the bike on to the stand but try it first. I don't know about yours but a lot (inc mine) have luggage racks on the back and this is used to pull the bike up

If you haven't already taken the exhaust off and you don't really want/need to at this stage then don't bother. Even if you have taken it off to repair the clamos you can install and remove the centrestand with the exhaust on

Just install the 'pin' under the exhaust side the other way round. By that I mean install it from under the bike facing/sliding outwards. To do this you need to cut a few millimetres of the length of the collar off and redrill it for the splitpin. I cut mine just approx. 2mm on the inside of the hole for the existing spiltpin.

It makes it very easy to place the stand under and fit the pins. Only problem then is to fit the springs!! The 2p peices in several of the coils b4 installing to lengthen the spring seems to work ok

    Good luck

    Many thanks for the replies.

Sadly I have already fitted it, taking the exaust off to do so
Your idea would save a bag of time, also useful if I needed to remove it for any reason.

I am able to get it onto the stand ok just using the grab rail on the rear carrier, so I think I will leave the bracket off for now
    Less weight the better.

As to the springs, I fitted them 1 at a time
Tied some string around the stand end, the other end to a jimmy bar and used the back tyre as a leaverage point
    Job done
