XRV 650 Fuel Pump Cut Off Relay

    Am I reading this correctly?

    relly assy cut honda

61 EUROS for this relay??? I almost considered keeping the pump hot wired until I realized I'd rather not have my bike catch on fire.

But really... have any of you RD03 owners come up with a cheaper alternative to spending $100 USD (for me at least)?

    mine is by-passed on both my RD01 & RD03+

it tests the pump on start-up as you can hear it prime the carbs, and the bike starts more easily...

if your are really concerned, you could wire a convention relay into the kill circuit, so that you could cut the power to the pump with the kill switch

As far as I know, the pump shuts off as soon as the kill switch is pressed. I know because the bike went to sleep in some snow and I could hear the pump sucking air until I hit the kill switch. I guess the only worry I have is if I go down and can't get to the switch.

    Thanks for checking.

Could anyone tell me what type of relay this is? As in, what is written on the relay itself? I found out that the current relay that I found zip tied to the bike isn't even the right one, but he tried to see if it would work.

Pictures or specs of the relay would be helpful. Thank you much.

The RD04 one is the same and there was one listed on eBay by a fella in Ireland a while back.

Re: XRV 650 Fuel Pump Cut Off Relay

    Thanks for the info.

I'm working with Jim Davis to see if one of his $6 20A fuses would work. However, he wanted to know this, and I do not know the answer:

Do you know if the pump runs all the time with a flow back system and pressure relief valve, or is it switched by a pressure switch, or what? I had thought the AT pumps ran all the time, but they ran pretty low pressure with a flow back to tank system.

    Anyone know?

then pump just stalls unders spring tension, as the chamber is emptied by the carbs, the contact is made, this enegizes the coil pulling the diapragm back against the spring load and opening the contact.. very simple

no spill back or pressure relief, its a simple lift pump, 2-4 psi is all that needed

    cheers

    Ray

ohh checked my XLV and the kill does not cut power to the Pump id the relay is by passed, will check the RD03
