Hello everybody! Presentation and quick question!!!

Hello folks, my name is Dario and I am from Italy!!!
I've been reading your forum for a while and I think you guys are great and today decided to join you!!!
I own a RD04 my 1990 and I'd like to ask you if anyone knows how to fit some Showa 47mm ups coming from a CRF 450 instead of the original 43mm forks. In particular I am not concerned about modifying the stem, and I know that an easy solution would consist in fitting a wheel and brake disc coming from a CRF too, but what if I'd like to maintain the original wheel with the two discs? Do you think it's impossible?

    Any tip/boost/knock is well accepted!

You would have to use two forks with calliper brackets. To be honest I would stick with one calliper and get a bigger disc and obviously set the forks up. If you do keep the CRF front wheel you might want to fit heavier spokes.

I know that one guy considered the KTM 990 forks.
When I grow up ..... yeah right!

Y'see, I could say "You can go fast, I can go anywhere, Africa Twin" But you buggers have 'em as well so it would sound pretty lame .... oops!

    Cheers fellas!

@Futter: Yes I know, it would be much easier sticking with a Crf wheel and a bigger disc, probably taken from a Crf motard, but the problem is that in Italy certain technical parameters are reported in the V5 (brakes are some of those), and if you don't respect them you might get in serious troubles with Police or Insurance companies in case of accident! That's why I'd prefer to keep the original wheel or at least the double disc!
(also, I got those forks for a ridicolous price, so why not to try?)
Maybe fitting on the right forkleg a left caliper bracket could be a solution?

@Italy: no worries, grazie per il benvenuto, ce la farņ (spero... !!!)

    Ciao Dario

Below is a picture of my old RD03 that is fitted with a CRF450X front end. This was achived by fitting the AT stem into the CRF yokes. This had a negative effect with greatly reduced turning angle.

You may have problems mounting a caliper on the right fork as I believe there are no mounting points on that fork.
