My local Honda dealer told me that he can order as many parts that you want. the thing is that takes 2 moths to be here in Portugal (22 out) if ordered today. in fact, there is none all over europe like was told to some of you. Maybe this 2 months time is for honda production of this part...if that is true, i'm sure that your local honda dealer can tell you the same. you should check it out.

you can download the explosion part diagram here:https://www.yousendit.com/download/a...NnkrV3hFQlE9PQ

is the part number 14 and it cost 38.72€ + taxes = 46.85€

i'm here to help if needed. you should check this story of the 2 months time to deliver at your local honda dealer.

Hmmm, I will return to my Honda dealer and ask him again.

I know Honda used to either stock every part for every model ever produced, I even know of a Guy that got engine cases for a very early Honda Cub, and they were sand casted instead of forged as they were originally.

It took 9 months, and they were not cheap, but Honda delivered what he needed.

However I have heard that this policy changed when Mr Sōichirō Honda (本田 宗一郎), passed away.

Still I think Honda is outstanding when it comes to stocking spare parts.

Re: RD03 OEM Headlamp mesh protection

OK, re-igniting this thread, as I've had quite a lot of enquiries about the headlight guards.

I will be unemployed from the end of this month, so may have a bit more time to devote to producing some more headlamp grilles (or "mask" as it is referred to by Honda). I still haven't got the modified mould back from a friend yet, as we've both had a fair bit going on and been too busy.

If, and I say IF, I am able to produce some grilles, it will be a very limited run, as I don't think the mould will have much life left in it, and it is very very time consuming and costly making them with only one mould, and a de-mould time of a couple of hours, and so far, a success rate of only about 50%.

Be aware, these are not the perfect injection moulded originals, but similar items made from resin, which means there may be the occasional air bubble or imperfection.

If you have an RD03 (or RD07a as some people have fitted them) these are the closest you will get to the original item, as it is now discontinued and no longer listed by Honda or parts specialists. You MAY get one new if you're extremely lucky, or have a better chance of getting a second hand one from Europe.

Pics at the beginning of the thread.

    I'll keep you posted.

    Cheers

    Bob

Sorry to hear that you'll be unemployed. Count me in for a "mask" order if you do make some more.
