Hi Guys/Gals
Think I made a boo boo recently when I serviced the bike using 'Magnatech' oil.
Saw this being used to service a top of the range BMW bike and without thinking this through, thought "if its good enough for that, then is ok to use in my @T".
Mmm, as an after though, maybe not. I'd forgotten the fact the BM is a dry clutch system where the @T is a wet clutch. This Magnatech tends to leave a residue on the surfaces it touches and I don't know if this has been a contributory factor in my recent clutch slipping!!
I've stripped the clutch out and the fiber and steel plates look in excellent condition, with around the 3.8mm measured on each fiber plate.
My question is.. Will I need to replace these plates with fresh ones, or will the fact I've washed them in petrol, then given them a very light rub with a wire brush just to eliminate some of the shiny surface and now have them soaking in the proper oil mean they'll be ok?
Also on another note. I've had trouble with the battery charging recently and on checking, the plugs connecting the rectifier to the bike are beyond repair and show signs of burning on the plastic walls. I have cut them off but can you buy just these connectors anywhere?
Cheers everybody.
Mike
