Quick advice on new chain and back sprocket ...

    Hi guys

I realize that many of you may be annoyed allready by such a standard question, but I did do a search, and have spent 2 hours reading now ... but didn't really find a solid answer bent in neon, as is best for a machanical challenged bloke like me

I have a new original front sprocket, and need to match with a good chain and back sprocket.

Not going cheap-o, but not supreme expensive either.

Looked at Gold DID 525 VM2 x-ring ... Is it allright?

    What should I get?

    Cheers lads!!!

    /T

I've never had any problems and the x-ring is superior to the o-ring.

good choice.. just remember... part number facing you when replacing front sprocket. just fitted the zvm2 to mine, instant response, feels solid, 900miles & still not needed the initial stretch ajustment.

Thanks for your quck response, guys!

Which grade should one go for? Seems they have 3 kinds, normal, heavy duty and super heavy duty ... Do they differ in terms of life span or are they for different kinds of riding, road, offroad, etc?

    Cheers!

i went for the zvm2 (extra, ultra, extreme mother fecker). had a couple of chains snap on me, very lucky on both occasions, so not risking it any more. because of the torque on singles & V's, local dealer suggested at least heavy duty. for afew dollars more i went for overkill. that false economy thing sprang to mind. I'm not 100% sure but i believe DID's are garanteed for 1 year or 10,000miles. different grades - its not which terrain you're on but how you ride... from sunday fair weather to thrashing the nuts off your girl.

    Interesting read, Bob! Thanks mate!

I would probably be asking the same question once fitted ....

I have had the sprocket off, so now I will go see if I turned it correctly

Oh, forgot to ask, is the 124 links you mention standard for RD07's also?

And how about the back sprocket? Any advice there?

    Thanks again guys!

was reading threads from the States, they'ed put some trick looking alloy rear sprockets on... they said they were lucky to make it back home... can only suggest steel all the way, £20+/-, but there is a sexy looking thing by Supersprox-stealth, spent too much this month to warrant it.
