    Heidenau K60 Tyre Pressures?

I’ve fitted Heidenau K60’s to my RD04 - 90/90/21 front and 130/80/17 rear. Can anyone tell me the correct pressures I should run at? I ask as I’m running the standard 29psi front and 32psi rear at the moment and the bike wobbles & weaves badly every time I touch a white line or any other imperfection in the road. This is quite scary when you’re going round bends or roundabouts - so much so that I’ve no confidence in these tyres and am thinking of getting rid and going back to Conti’s.

I run the same pressures and only get your symptoms pushing it in the wet or extreme cold

What mileage have you done on them?

Is the front tyre profiled off (raised front dropped rear of tread pattern) due to braking?

If you feel you don't want them let me know, I love them to bits

02 RD07a RWB, Powerbronze tall screen, Remus Grand Prix, TT crash bars, TT pannier frame, Zega style panniers, Alpos top box,TT bar risers, TT headlamp guard, Heated grips, mainstand, Heidenau K60s for road and light offroad, TKC80s for the dirty stuff, Scottoiler, Autocomm, TT Zumo mount, Zumo 550 and most of all A BIG GRIN !!! Oh, and a very nice RD04 HRC coloured Marathon Replica

    Hi Paul,

I've done around 1500 miles on them, but they've been like this since new. I'll have to check the profile on the front but haven't noticed anything.

I get this "weaving" in the dry (first time out in the wet on them was yesterday) and I'm not a fast rider.

Quite disappointed with them really. My Conti Escapes did "white line" a little in the wet but nowhere near as bad as the Heidenau's do in the dry

Decided to try a rear on mine last week, 400miles later feels like i'm still scrubbing it in.... roundabouts! shocking! Feels like a 1980's square edge when conering. I bet they're great on tracks/off road, but after galloway think its going to be the spare wheel again. Made me realise how much confidence BT45's give you. Paul.. out of interest do you run the M&S or normal type?

    Re: Heidenau K60 Tyre Pressures?

My TKC's were worn out so I opted for the K60's after speaking with Paul-S.

Cant fault the K60's....but I suppose it where you came from, like I said I came from TKC's and running these on the road produced a few wobbles. The K60's are much better.

I dont get the same effects as you or not that I notice - run them both around 29-30psi (normally pump to about 31-32ish to allow for air escape whilst Im removing the pump.

I did a 1600 mile trip round Scotland on brand new K60's and had a great trip. It pee'd it down every day but that didnt stop me hurtling round corners at 80 in the wet...and on single track roads with gravel on it. I cant rave about the K60's enough.

The ultimate test was off road last weekend. And again, cant fault the K60's, didnt fall off all day. Great on and off road tyre.

I dont think they look as good as my old TKC's though but Ive no reason to be switching back anytime soon.

Not sure but you can have a look when I'm up in Galloway

They just say Enduro on the side and they are rock hard

The back's done 9700 miles (3000+ done 2 up with luggage on a pace too). It's still got 5-6mm on the rear middle and 7 mm on the rear edge but this is looking a little chewed up now

The fronts last me 4-5000 miles but that's just the way I push the front end into corners quite hard

    Re: Heidenau K60 Tyre Pressures?

I came from road biased tyres to a set of K60's and also noticed a slight wobble and a tendancy to "white line". However having got used to these tyres I feel confident in them. I'd not push quite as hard on these as I did on my old set of pirellies but I bought them as a dual-sport tyre and never expected to have the same road manners as my old tyres.

If you don't intend on taking your bike off road then to be honest buying dual-sport tyres is a mistake - you should just have a set of road tyres. However if you intend to use the bike off road them, personally, I think the K60's are one of the better tyre choices and very affordable.
    Nice shiny RD07A
    Not so shiny MT500

totally agree with the dual purpose, but didnt want to go foresting on a pair of "bold as my dad road tyres", or spend a fortune. Will give 'em more time b4 appraisal. The mud & snow type have cuts/holes in the tread blocks & are a softer compound which would grip more... but i cant see them giving good milage. i do 20k/year milage.

    Re: Heidenau K60 Tyre Pressures?

Mine do not have any cuts in the blocks so I must have the hard ones

The TKCs I had on for a while lasted me 4500 miles and both the front and rear were gone

Could they be fitted wrong way, Road tyres have a wheel rotation arrow on them, not sure about dual purpose tyres. Bearings all gud?
    Just a thought.
