Metzler Tourances for the Road although I have used Trailwings which I found just as good. I hear some folk on here don't like them in the wet. I'd be interested to see how the bike handles with a sports touring tyre on it. Maybe I'll give it a try.

    Off-road Mitas E09.

been doing a lot of research this week for myself. been looking for 50/50 and 80/20 (80 off) seems like some of the best price/milage is coming from the mitas E 07. some chaps reporting over 20k! 15k seems to be common. look at trelleborg uk, think they sell for 58 squids for a rear. the profile seems to be able to handle medium of road as well. i just ordered the E 09 and a E 07 to combine. their total road model is the E 08, but the 07 will give you more peace of mind im sure. google some writeups, they really surprised me!

Every Mitas is behaving very badly on wet surface. Beware of the rain if you choose Mitas.

Definitely! Mitas on wet surface is like skiing on ice.

You can't go off-roadin', but for wet n dry roads, hard wearing Bridgestone battleaxe BT45's. Had tried several brands, & the confidence thing is by the by, you just do what you want!!! Dual compound (hard centre, soft edges). not very cheap.. but neither are having your panels, tank, fairing & limbs repaired. Dual purpose... tyres, tried Conti-Escapes, heinendau k60's which take a bit to get accustomed to after pure road tyres & Tourances. All of which are pretty good off road too.

Hi, I've just fitted the brand new 'Dunlop Trailmax TR91's'. Very happy with them, good feel and excellent grip wet or dry, they are road biased as I don't take the bike off road so expect to get good mileage and performance.
Tyres I've tried before are.. 'Bridgestone Battlewings', (poor mileage and wear) and 'Metzeler Tourances' (better but not much).
One thing I've found is keep your eye on the pressures. Tyre fitment places tend to put to put maximum pressure in when they are fitted and this tends to cause quite rapid centre section wear particularly on the rear.
I have experimented extensively with various tyre pressures and found if you are not doing extended fully loaded high speed touring, a lower tyre pressure can extend the life of your tyre quite dramatically, and also lets the tyre 'work' a bit causing it to heat up quicker for better grip.
This is because the centre of the tyre is allowed to push away from the road allowing more of the 'shoulder' of the tyre to touch the ground.
Obviously I am not talking about dramatic differances in pressure, and don't condone using tyre pressures outside manufacturers acceptable limits, but in my experience...tyre fitters tend to put the maximum pressure that is permissable for 2 up riding to cover there backs when you ride off, and/or don't use an accurate tyre pressure guage so err on the high side.
