Any suggestions as to the best tyres for my bike. I'm looking for suggestions for road only (touring), as well as dual purpose (mostly road with the odd dirt track)
Cheers

I'm using Dunlop Trailmax since the last 5000km's and I'm very satisfied.
Not very expensive. Keeps a good grip even when raining. Good for light offroad.

Conti Escapes for me
This is my second time with them - had some Heidenaus in between but really didn“t like them and changed back to the Escapes after 1500 miles. The Escapes are also very reasonably priced. You can get a pair from Moto Tyres for just over £100 delivered, or if you prefer to get them locally try Russ's Motorcycle Tyres Ltd - They did my rear tyre last Friday, were very competitively priced and offer a ride in / ride out service. I use "S" rated tyres on mine and also fit a 130 section rear as they“re quite a bit cheaper than the 140.

I got 5000 from the last rear, but 99.9% of that mileage was 2 up.
Knobbly,
I had Conti Escape before, on RD03. I experienced very strange wear of the front tire. It was much like stairs! Never seen that before. Does it wear evenly for you? Thank you for answer!
No it doesn“t wear evenly for me either, and they do have a strange stepped appearance. I was a bit worried when I first noticed it but it doesn“t affect the handling at all. I recently saw a Yamaha XTZ750 with the same tyre and the same wear pattern so it isn“t just on Africa Twins. I asked about it at the tyre fitting place I went to, and they said they see lots of this on dual-sport tyres, not just Conti Escapes.
You are probably absolutely right. The uneven wear could happen because of heavy breaking... When combined with lower tire pressure, it makes even more sense...
Recently a set of Bridgestone BT 501/502 Battlewings lasted 9K !! ok the front could have gone on for a bit more. I only fitted them as they were £40 cheaper than Tourances and I think they are just as good. £190 fitted and balanced from Biketreads Swindon
