    TKC80 on Africa Twin

    Hiya all
Just fitted some Comtinental TKC 80 on the Africa Twin
First impressions are very good- bit wobbly when slow but otherwise no real difference on the road to the scorpion trail street Tyres they have replaced.

Off road (tracks mainly dry) they are great and inspire confidence.

Anyone else have them- what pressures are you running ?

They also look a lot better than before

I used them all the time on my AT and I would agree they are very good tyres. Just wished they lasted longer. I ran mine on 28psi front and back on and off road. The AT is a heavy bike and the fear IMO would be of pinching the tube if you lowered the tyre pressure for off roading. The only time you may want/need to lower the pressure is if you’re in thick mud and again IMO you don’t want to take a heavy bike into mud. Did you fit them yourself ?

    Hi Ashley
    Thanks for that.
I didn't fit them I let the shop I bought the vara from do it.
I was present when he changed them so I could see what he did and also was interested in knowing how the inside of the rims were.
He also balanced them for me- the rear needed 30 gms I think which he said was a lot.

He recommended front 29 and rear 33 and this is why I wanted to check it out with the XRV
I agree with you about mud and AT they don't mix
I took it out for a spin today on my own and turned back from 2 routes as it looked muddy, otherwise was impressed

    Good one Ashley,
I kept a good eye on what was going on and kept asking why what how- he's a good lad at the shop and as keen as mustard.

One thing I am a bit concerned over is that it has innertubes - would think it easier to plug a hole than have to take th wheel , tyre etc off- is it more customary to have inntubes?

After he had finished I made sure I had a big enough socket on the bike... Need some tyre levers too.

The peak district vids look good will have to explore that area and just south of sheffield

It would be difficult to keep any pressure inside the wheels without inner tubes on the Africa Twin.
