    Re: main stand spring...help.

Done, what a pain that was. Thanks for all the tips.

I ended up using some cable i had about 1mm in diameter, made a loop in it, attached it to the back of the spring, attached the front of the spring to the lug on frame. Then made another loop in cable inserted a 2 ft crow bar and used the back tire as a pivot point to lever cable and stretch spring, after much effort a friend was able to hook spring onto stand.

Done, but i dont trust it, its tilting slightly forward and can easily be knocked off stand. probably been better with a beer crate and save £120. Its an oem RD04 Honda from David Silvers..

Its definately on right, I would have to lock the front brake on and wedge the front wheel if i wanted to remove back wheel! anyone had this instability on theirs?
    cheers Li.

strong string/bootlace looped around the spring hook and the stand foot. put an inch of bic pen inside the string loop, and use a 4mm drill as a tommy bar to twist the string. the spring has no choice but to stretch with zero effort and both eyes intact.

That's how the OE centrestand was on my RD07. I never used to use it when kids were around who might bump into it, just kept it for overnight storage in the garage and wheel removal.

I have exactly the same problem. The old one was much less upright and the stand on the other bike is less upright.

Pheww, its not somethin ive done then.
Was a near disaster, fitted stand, put bike up, walked round it, booted back wheel to spin it and the bike dropped of its stand and ghostied about 4 feet before i could grab the rear rack and save it!!!

Never known anything like it. kids used to jump all over my bandit when on main stand no problem, solid as a rock.

AT stand needs moving forward 1/4 inch. Dont know if that would be possible.

    Thanks for replies.

grind the stop off a little so it comes forward more. dont forget to only take a tiny bit off at a time, 0.5mm should easily give you 5mm at the foot

Good idea but would be shame to start grinding top off very new very expensive stand!

I wonder if i could grind a bit off the feet of the stand? they dont actually sit on the sloped edge they just sit on the very tip, if that makes sense.
Maybe wear n tear will have em sitting better.
    Cheers
