The Bike has been rescued from the burial plot in Ian's garden and I now have her in the South West near St.Ives. I am hoping to be taught a bit of bike maintenance by the other half as we take her apart and check everything you guys have mentioned. So far I have new Spark plugs although these were supposedly changed when I had her serviced, the air filter has been changed we can see that. Probably even less chance of finding an RD07 down here than Lincolnshire.
Thunder got and spare cams in all your bits and pieces, may be needing to sell Jasmin to get new ones![]()

Well I am a very happy lady, the new rubbers are in and so are the Rugged Roads Choke Valve guides as mine were broken. It seems that despite my best and according to the other half annoying efforts, he did all the work I just lost the screwsI was restrained from playing because I had been taking the plastics off the Scooter and the back seized up again. Every time he goes out I try and fettle with a bike and he comes back and finds me looking very puzzled and stuck in interesting positions.....It seems I am not a true woman as I can't read a bloody manual either. Oh and when someone asks did the temperature gauge ever work I am supposed to know the answer.
He took it out for a little blast and fell in love with it, seems the engine coughs a little at around 100 not that he did that on a public road of course!Oh and the front brakes are pants, I did warn him about that. Seems he struggled to get air into the rear tyre, if he thinks that is hard he should try getting air into an MP3's 3 tyres, you need to be double jointed lay on the floor and have three pairs of hands and even then you still lose more than you put in.
So once I am fit I will be playing on her again, now we just have the Facet pump which should arrive any day to fit and the scooter to ponder over. Oh and a DR Big to put a new gear box in and funnily enough a quad to find a new gear box for as well and an XL600LMF to put back together. At least his 1200GSA works!
Oh and what I really want now is a DR650 to add to the fold, I miss my old DR she was a seriously fun bike to ride.
Good news, glad you got sorted, I know you appreciate good rubbers
On the brakes issue, sounds like they need a good fettle, renowned for going off unless maintained "regularly". Pop the calipers off, give them a good clean and replace the fluids, should sort them.![]()
