Where are all the black ones?

I've been trawling through the classifieds and on the tinternet for @s for sale, just to get an idea of pricing etc. There is quite a large disparity between prices, some real bargains and some real rip offs. I'm going to try for an 02 or if at all poss an 03, but they all seem to be the tricolour versions. The black and golds seem to be in short supply. Now, I've got nothing against the rwb ones, but as I get older I feel that I need a more sober look and the black seems to complement my eye bags quite nicely. Were fewer made or is it just that all you jammy gits have them?

This looked quite a bargain, but it was withdrawn from sale. I'm not in the position to bid yet, but it looked in good nick and had lots of extras:

Got a black one. So have 2 of my mates.
Sorry - none are for sale.

However, I would have actually preferred a R, W, & B model but the "accounts department" insisted on black. Also - black is the winning colour dont you know (did anyone catch the rugby?)

    Good luck

I like the black bellypan. How difficult is that to do? Would the aluminium need a lot of preparation and then special paint?

Ref the bellypan, I had mine powdercoated satin black a few months ago along with the rear foot rest hangers due to salt corrosion through winter. I had it done locally in one peice leaving the screws in place (not the mounting ones) so far it has stood up to stone chips very well, and it is so easy to clean (Wash & Go) I will try to post a picture or two tommorow.

Ok so I found my Camera - thought it was at home.. Bellypan and footrest hangers were given a light sandblasting before powdercoating. A mentioned so far it has stood up well to stonechips, even had a brick bounce off but it didn't fetch the coating off (sounded like it went through the engine!)

Mots Motorcycles of basingstoke have a Black AT in stock ...

ref the belly pan .. If you use acidic etching primer you can then spray onto the it isung normal paint.

Its not hard to do, but stone chips etc would show up after a while.

I dropped mine the other day .. the only damage .. a small dent in the belly pan. .... lump of wood and an hammer has sorted it out.

Might take mine off and paint it if i get a chance... I will probably use a good thick black base coat, and give it a few heavy coats of lacquer.. the top coat with a little plasticiser to allow it to flex.
