    Re: New Africa Twin owner!!

    Hello,

Nice to see that I am not the only one who has just bought an old RD04 model recently.

I am like you keen to share info and get advice from other XRV (africa twin owner).

For stickers: a french company offers XRV stickers : AXESS STICKER autocollants, stickers, motos, autos (I have never tried them so cannot say if they are good or not)

For parts, there is a french website called www.leboncoin.fr where one can buy used parts for everything (including the XRV). problem for you, it is in french.

    Hope this helps.

Hi, I see that you recently purchased this bike, but if for whatever reason you're not getting on with it or just want to sell it, then I would be really interested in buying it from you, may even show you a profit!

    Rgds, Michael

    Hi Michael,

I am quite happy with the Bike. I bought it as I had the same model RD04 in early 90s and wanted to ride this kind of bike again.

There is a french web site called www.leboncoin.fr where one can see used models for Sale sometimes.

    Brgds

    Hi again,
Just a quick update on my RD04 since I last posted on here!

I completely stripped her down, powdercoated the frame, all brackets powdercoated, cleaned and repaired the loom, new brakes, oil and filters.....generally everything really!!Left the paintwork alone as she was,nt too bad, just a couple of stickers here and there to cover a few blemishes.
Biggest expense was the suspension bearings,as they were rubber ducked, also the choke cable was well gunged up but after stripping, cleaning and lubricating it,s now perfect! There was also a lot of ****e in the airbox so thoroughly cleaned and fitted with a new filter.Engine was sweet so left it alone and it has just passed MOT,so paris dakar here I come (only kidding) Let me know what you lot think??I love it!!

Cheers Guys!!As regards the red around the filler cap there were a few marks just behind the cap so I bought some red vinyl from a graphics suppliers, trimmed it and stuck it on,I think it looks pretty much a factory finish!!I,m away from home at the moment but will put a pic of that up when I get home!!
