cold starting in the morning without chokes in

Having taken out the chokes in the summer, this moring i just couldnt start her and the battery became dead whilst trying to turn her over - until the clikcing started. so had to resort to taking the bus

i am going to put the battery on charge when i get back tonight and hopefully give it another go tomorrow - need to fill her up as only just switched to reserve - so could be affecting the fuel pump..

has anyone else had problems with starting in the cold, having disconnected the chokes?

I never disconnected the chokes but my RD04 would not start without choke when it was very cold.

I never use the choke and use my bike daily (early morning 7am - zero degrees this morning). I do keep her in the garage overnight so maybe that helps, but all she needs is a little bit of throttle and she wakes with a lively burble from the Remus. I gently raise the revs to 2000 hold there for 15 seconds and she can then happily be left to tick over at 1,250 ish. Maybe I'm just lucky....although my previous rd07 was also just as happy to start early morning without choke.

Seriously... try to cover as much of the engine with an old quilt. It does make a difference.

Yes mine is a bit tricky when its really cold. . . . just a touch of throttle then hold it for good few second's. its kept inside and i often have the optimate type charger on just in case.

thanks for your commnets and suggestions guys.. i like the duvet suggestion Foz...

went to take the bvattery out lasnight to charge it - but thought i would just see if she turned over - and bang - fired first time!!!! - so filled here up and went for a long run to charge her.this morning she fired up first time aswell.... so i am really pleased..

i have suspected for sometime my fuel pump not working 100% - so im going to look in to Facet upgrade.
