Breather Pipe from Airbox - why?...

    Hello.

Why does this pipe (the one that hangs down past the swingarm) have a tap on the end of it? Surely it's only any use if it can breathe?

Haven't really looked at the tap to see if its an on off tap or non-return arrangment,
but it would be no use if it were open as the air box is under negative pressure when the engine is running, therefore water would not collect in it to be drained off, instead you would get all sorts sucked up the tube into the air box.
