    Rust !!!!

Started the AT up on sunday, and went for a blast before giving the bike a good clean. when I put the bike on the center stand, and gave it a good soaping, I decided to give the bike a little "rev". About 3000 rpm I noticed a distinct vibration comming from the rear.
Upon further inspection, it turns out that the rear exhaust gaurd has rusted and snapped right on the joint.

Im a bit pissed, as the bike is only 10 months old, and only has 5000 miles on the clock (is garaged when not in use).

Presumably this will be covered under the warranty though guys? I noticed the bracket holding the back of the exhaust on mine has some corrosion on it too - is this the same bit you're talking about?

I don't think rust is covered under warranty as Honda argue that you haven't cleaned the bike properly.
I.e. wipe it down after every ride
Well that's what my dealer said anyway.
    Totally impractical in my opinion.

Whilst you might expect a bit of surface rust in that time scale (although personally I wouldn't), to rust through a bracket like that has got to be a manufacturing defect. If Honda won't fix it under the warranty I'd be tempted to get Trading Standards people involved.

What other more safety critical brackets might also break during a ride? Do you really want to find out the painful way?
