I had Tourances on my XT600....best tyre I've ever used.
If you're doing mainly road work, then nothing beats them for grip, wear, and all-round handling ability.
When I reach 2000 miles on my TA then both DeathWings will be history, and it'll be Tourance time again!![]()
Just fitted Tourances, I am well impressed with them. Check Metz website to make sure the tyres are matched, as the dealers will try to sell what they have in stock.
Deathwings = Trailwings?
Must confess, I've had no problems with these, plus they seem to be readily available (I wonder why ...).
On the other hand, I've always stuck with trailwings, having had those nasty T66 tyres before, which I thought were rubbish.
Re Trailwings.....It depends what you're using the bike for Andy.
They're a bit of a 50/50 road/trail compromise tyre...adequate on both, but not exactly confidence inspiring in the wet. They'll scrub down very quickly on the roads too.
Tourances are more a 90/10 road/trail tyre and are really superb on the tarmac. Your bike will handle so much better in all conditions, and you'll get a very good mileage out of them too.
As I said, when the TA hits 2000 miles, then it'll be a matched pair of Tourances going on it.
Costs about £150 but worth every penny.
My AT gets used more or less exclusively on the road, and I've had good mileage out of the trailwings - the journey is 40 miles of motorway and 15 of filtering. Reckon I get 6k out of a rear tyres (although if my bike runs for 6k without the engine needing to be removed again, I'll be chuffed), and had my first major moment on Saturday, which I'm hoping involved rain, 'pressing-on' along the M20, and probably some diesel. Caused a major heart failure followed by a 'what if ...' moment, but fortunately, it remained a 'what if ...' moment.
Will try the Tourances next time round (which won't be that far away).
Trailwings... have them now on my @,
but: No grip when wet(really gripless...), and wear quite fast...

No more Trailwings for my bike.
Cheers,
Tijn
This is getting weird ... am beginning to wonder if I do actually have trailwings on my bike - will have a look in a bit!
I've got Dunlop Trailmax's on my RD07. Seem OK on both the wet and dry tarmac to me and seem to be wearing well too. However, I still think the bike is over sensitive to cross-winds and turbulence (overtaking trucks, etc.) and that possibly could be down to the tyres. Given the chat here I'll try Tourances when I come to replace them.

I suppose I should have been a little clearer with my question.
Should I ditch my T66 now in favour of Tourances or wait till they wear out ?
