    Facet pump and charging

Hi all, but of a techy one for you. Does anyone know how much ampage a facet draws in relation to the original Africa twin fuel pump?
I just tested my voltage and all is ok, but not putting out as much as it was with lights on. I'm guessing the facet is drawing a little more current but would be handy to know how much!

Has anyone got a voltage readout from a bike with a facet fitted? I'm just wondering if my reg might be on the way!!

I used to get between 13 and 14 volts from the battery terminals when revving the engine to about 2,000 rpm. That was with a Facet pump fitted and the standard pump.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/34,000 miles ridden (of 57,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Is that with the lights on? Getting the same with lights off but 12.5 with them on at idle.

Yes, with the lights on. It should be lower at idle, proves your regulator is working. Your lights should get brighter when you rev it slightly.

    Re: Facet pump and charging

Have just changed over my RR as this charging thing is a little worrying to me!

Battery shows 12.5 volts with engine off
idle with lights off is 13.5 and marginally rises when revved up.
With lights on, at idle i'm getting 11.9 to 12.4. I have checked the fuses for corrosion and the earth strap which is fine.

Without stripping the generator cover off, is there any other test i could do to see if the genny is cooked? Am going to France with it in June and dont really want to be stranded!
