Frame number. You have an RD07. Under the seat will be a label giving you the full code and colour code. I think mine is an XRV750X (2000 model, one careful owner) as well. This is good enough to get spares with. But I could be wrong....I have Bet Lynch type handlebar muffs and am therefore slightly sus.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Yep it's the frame number. According to my Haynes manual all AT engine numbers begin RD04 - thought I'd got an earlier engine in my '94 - the suffix letter (in Yen's case X) changes each year. My '94 is an XRV750R, '95 is an S, and so on.

By the way Yen, I don't think it's strictly legal to use the words "Bet Lynch" and "muffs" in the same sentence.

Once maybe when she was a national treasure I would have agreed. However after seeing her f-ing and blinding on the back of an elephant, she's lost some of the magic......

You must have led a sheltered life Mr. P.; elephants, racy language,...that just sounds like part of the normal Manchester mating routine I feel faintly aroused
