43 liter of fuel.
No it's not mine, and frankly I would struggle to keep that one on the right keel in sand.
I thought my standard RD07A was a bit top heavy, but this one must be even more so.

All that weight it probably needs that stand under the side stand on tarmac!!
Great if you are travelling huge distances otherwise in Europe a waste in my opinion - he says who is making a 30+ litre tank for his RD03!!!![]()

The bike(s) look rather scary.
But since I had mounted a Boano-35l tank to my AT for my Australia trip I have to say the handling is not that bad. I'd say the problems I had up to the Tip were not (entirely) due to the large tank.
Cheers Markus
Let's digress Markus...
I'm heading to the tip (on my DR650) for the first time this Sunday. What happened on your trip? Is there a RR somewhere you can link me to?
Cheers

Unfortunately I have not yet conditioned the pictures I made (although I did not return only yesterday) so there is no ride report available (yet!?).
There actually did not happen any extremely negative things. I only bent the centre stand while arriving at that f... dip a litle bit (maybe it was a large bit) to fast.
How I experinced it:
- I stayed on the PDR and did not rode the OTT
- I had fitted my AT with stiffer fork springs because of the 35l tank and because under most conditions the stiffer springs proved to be the correct decision
- Although the road up to the Tip was in rather good condition (at least they said so) there was a fair bit of corrugation. Maybe I should have gone faster than 70km/h but I had the feeling that softer fork springs or a lighter front (i.e. smaller tank) would have solved the problem as well
- North of Bramwell Station (in the section where the road twists and turns) it was sandy which gave me a hard time. Again a lighter front would have made the job easier.
- The centre stand got bent on those long straights before reaching Moreton Telegraph Station. Almost perfect roads, a rallye like dust cloud behind the bike, dips that can be managed at speeds up to around 80, and yes, the one dip was filled with large stones. No crash but a bent centre stand
- The tracks around Bamage could be negotiated without problems, despite the large tank and the tracks beeing narrow and twisty
If you like more information let me know, but for now I have to go back to work...
By the way:
My profile picture was taken at the Pentecoste River Crossing and the bike is the one I used for the Tip trip as well.
Cheers
Markus
