    Sprocket trouble.

I know most people here say go OEM front sprocket . But i have always been a fan of Renthal,.. But Guess what they dont make em anymore!!! So now the only real choice is the HONDA one. So I have just bought 4!

Rear has never been a problem before. Been usually happy with what ever but still seemed to always get a rental. but guess what... you got it renthal USA is now only offering 40 or 42 teeth.. WTF..Okay no worries it is rebuild so I though i would go Supersprox this time around and no where in the world can i actually find a place that has 45 teeth rears in stock: not even Superprox home or Even our beloved Rugged roads is only list 46teeth.

I can find a JT (i think? i have not too much work into it yet). But is this a sign of things to come.. I hope not. any one else struggling or am a numpty

    Re: Sprocket trouble.

The last sprockets I bought for an AT were Sunstar. I was very impressed, so much in fact that I went out of my way to get the same make for my Varadero. Wemoto sell them, although I got my AT ones from T.E. Motorcycle spares who supplied my chains for quite a few years now.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/34,000 miles ridden (of 57,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

It is kind if odd that people say go Honda OEM front - just a thought but given that front splines wear - could it be the fault of the OEM sprocket?

I will have to check but I think I have JTs with 16 front and 46 back but as I said I will check. Got them from M&P. They have lasted longer than the OEM ones. 20k and still looking very good OEM lasted 16k and chain broke!

    Re: Sprocket trouble.

I have just fitted a new C&S - JT made the cogs and the chain, while I ordered an O ring, I got an X ring - Busters provided very quickly.

It tends to be Busters do the mail order especially since M&P burnt down and they ate operating from a small unit near the old store - they are rebuilding a super duper place to be opened on the old site sometime in the summer.

Back to sprockets - I snapped an OEM chain at 16k the new chain from M&P is still going strong after nearly 20k with hardly any adjustment needed.
