    Question Exhaust baffles

Please excuse me for asking this question...It may be common knowledge but this is my vigin experience here.....
I have a 1992 @ and have just removed the motor for some much needed maitenance / rebuild.
As I removed the exhaust pipes from the cylinder heads, I notoced what appeared to be large washers welded into the necks of the pipes just inside the pipes. If they came from the factory then I can only assume that they are designed to restrict exhaust flow therefore limit HP and performance. I have never come across this in a bike or any other motor and am seeking some guidance regarding the next appropriate step to take... Like remove the restrictions ...................
    Any input would be appreciated.

The bike uses soft gaskets when fitting the headers to provide a seal, you can get them from Honda dealers or a number of suppliers, could these be what you have found? Pictures would be useful.

Restriction of HP is generally through full input rather than exhaust output.
