Okay, I'll let you off with that one.

I also like your "tyres too grippy for me" comment.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Paul, sorry to read the issue with the mudguard catching on the stand retaining bolt. I fitted my bolts above the two central bash plate mounting bolts and never had an issue with it catching.

    Re: RDo4 first proper ride

    No probs Jason

I'll just trim down and shorten the guard

    Job's a good'un !

Nice little singular strip left in the middle from the knobblies

This was done within a few kilometres when it happened. I didn't feel anything and only noticed when I puled into the carpark at the top at the Cat'n'Fiddle to wait for the Bro In Law

The Cat'n'Fiddle is one of those roads where you don't need brakes - fast flowy bends and tight hairpins etc

The guard and shrouds are going away to the paint doctor tomorrow to get the replacement sorted

    Update

Had the new guard trimmed polished up and painted up by the paint doctor and he's done an excellent job

Offending bolt replaced with a shorter one

Here it is loaded and ready to go

First real long trip to the National at the weekend

Fuel - from thrashing around the peaks in 2nd 3rd and 4th gears all day I got 230 kms for 16.65 ltrs so just made 40 mpg

Fully loaded 120kph down to the National and our little trippet in the afternoon cruising off the back of Chads numberplate I have been getting 210 kms to 14ltrs. It was the same on the way back - steady 120kph fully loaded is getting me 44-45 mpg

I lost 1 bolt and nut from the side of a rear panel on the way down and one nut off a screw holding the two rear panels together at the top - so I've lost me nuts and I have got a screw loose

Other than that it runs great - very pleased

Tyres - what can I say - I love them. They are much harder than the Hiedenau K60s old compound so I expect a lot of fun from these

On the way back a GSXR 1 and an Aprillia RSV Mille went past just as we were approaching some roundabouts on the A14. I caught up at the roundabouts and pushed the front a bit more - used almost all the front tread but they are not scrubbed in yet with a lot of moulding strips at the edge and the front was just at breakaway point with predictable controllable slides but gripped as soon as pick up drill kicked in. A bit skittish yet on quick flicks and changes of direction mid corner but I expect these will deliver great things once scrubbed in

I've done over 800 miles on these tyres now and they still have some the chicken strips in the middle of the tyre!

Have to look at the Scotoiler - pumping oout more oil than Exxon Valdez at the moment even on it's lowest setting

    That's all for now folks

Nice one Paul, thats a gorgeous bike you have there.

I noticed you has some misfire issues with your bike. Can you tell me how you cured the problem please? I've noticed on mine when blipping the throttle, sometimes it misfires. Would this be down to too rich a mixture, spark plugs, carbs? Cheers Andy
