New boy needs info.

Hello I picked up my 1996 Africa Twin today and rode it through 40 miles of storm lashed Central Scotland and am more than impressed couldn't imagine anything more different from my last bike (600 Hornet).
I have three questions whigh I hope all you AT experts can help me with.
1. The digital trip meter comes on with the ignition but freezes ie. it displays all the 8's and I can't get it to reset.
2. Any suggestions for best paint to redo engine casings they are the only bit of the bike showing its age ie peeling.
3. My bike is mainly silver in colour with red, black and white flashes with matt black side panels I have searched all web sites I can find but have not came across any others with the same paint scheme is this a custom job or a rare (unpopular) colour scheme.

Someone more intelligent will be along soon to answer your other questions, but in the meanwhile do you have a digital camera and can take any pics to show us the colour scheme?

Looking through the site I think I will try and add a pic. via the pic gallery failing that stand by your e mail. I will be taking the bike out for a decent run tomorrow so will take a few pics then.

Is it the same as "Mine..." on the pictures thread? Nothing wrong with that colour scheme - Apparently it's the best and most desirable, as well as conferring extra sexual prowess and endowment upon its owner. TRUFACT.

Hi haydnw I traded in my 1999 600 Hornet 17000mls. (with all extras removed) £1800 against my 1996 28000 AT. It was priced at £2499 but this was from a BMW dealership so it may have been overpriced but the deal suited me.

Nope thats not it, same side panels but mines darker silver almost grey and is black where yours is red.
