Thread: H4 bulbs

    H4 bulbs

    Hi,
I am converting my headlight from the ancient bajonet connection to H4 bulbs.

Only thing is how to connect the pins. There are 3 pins on a H4 bulb, one for earth, one for lo and one for high beam. Does anyone know which is which?

I know how to test this, but, being very lazy....

    Cheers,
    Tijn

How have you managed to fit H4 Lamps into the Bosch Type headlamps or have you purchased complete H4 type lamp units?

    Cheers

Fantastic... I think I've now got all the bits to finally make my RD03 into the twin headlamp style (I've got the oddball single lens AT ). As cool as it might be to have that rare single lens... ATs look proper with twin rally lights.

I'm going to be doing the H4 conversion as well. I might end up having a separate switch for one of the bulbs (with an off/on low/ on hi & low together). My bike is already wired for a single H4 bulb, but I don't feel the harness could handle powering two bulbs. I'll have to run wires from the battery to a relay and from the relay to the switch or, like I was saying, just run a completely sep. switch for the second bulb/lens.

I've noticed that one lens is a bit different from the other... what lens was meant to be the low beam and which was the hi beam? I think I know, but thought I'd be dumb and just ask anyway... to make sure and all.

I think it'd be sweet to run both H4 bulbs at once... I bet with both set to hi beam it'd light up the night like a comet! :P

Any extra tips or info. on doing an H4 conversion would be welcome. I did read the Africa Twin H4 Headlight Conversion, but others might have found other tips and such that might be of help.

    Thank you.

    Re: H4 bulbs

Bump! Sorry to bump up a very old thread, but I'm following the article and have done the mod but my lights are pointing too high now and my right (sitting on the bike) light has a really high dip. Bulbs have been installed with the correct tab bent to fit the notch.

Basically the lows shine where they should but the right light shines higher up as well, and both high beams are very high - like a mile down the highway high. I seem to have already maxxed out the vertical adjuster wingnut (only have on on the bottom left) to bring them down.

    Any advice muchly appreciated!

    Cheers, Matt
