Howdy all,
Just wondering if it's worth buying the Haynes manual as I believe it's shared with the Transalp and I'm wondering if it's any good ? Is there a proper Honda workshop manual and where would I get one if so ?
Ta,
Paddy.

Not sure if it's better having a proper workshop manual but so far the Haynes has been great.
The TA is similar to AT so some of the instructions apply to both bikes. Otherwise they are split into different sections for different models.
The Heinz is an ill-in-formed comic. I payed £20 ish for a photo copy from Honda it is far better than the Aircraft Manuals that use at work, it is foolproof. May be the price I paid was due ti buying engine parts and Honda thought it was for the Dealer and not a customer.
I payed the same sort of money for my RD04 manual (photocopy of original in a ringbinder)and copied my mates 07 manual which was similarly priced. They are good, although I use the Haines as well to see what both say about something.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.
1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
i downloaded the haynes for free. Works for me. Always handy to have
downloaded from where?
can i put the link here?? The forum of the dutch transalp club doesn't permit comercial links. I it allowed to place here, administrators?
Hi.
I can email you a pdf file of the haynes manual and some other info if you want. Then you can just re-print any pages that always end up getting covered in oil!
I am not a trained mechanic so not the best to judge the quality of Haynes, but I must say I have had many of them and they always worked for me. The fact several models are put into one manual is not too disturbing I find. One criticism maybe is that Haynes often recommends to take half your bike apart for even the slightest little task.
I also have a copy of the Honda NTV "factory" manual which has more pictures and details which makes it better for the more serious expert-jobs. But that does not mean the Haynes manual is still worth having for the average mortal![]()
About electronic copies: I don't want to raise a "policing finger" to anyone here but if nobody bothers to buy the real thing anymore, there may very well be no more Haynes at all in the future. What is 15 or 20 quid compared to what you save when taking it to the Honda stealers? Not to mention the satisfaction of doing it all yourself.
