This might sound silly but if I need to charge the battery on the AT can I do it with the Halfords car battery charger I have somewhere in the garage ?
Cheers,
John

As long as it's not one of those "charge-your-battery-in-10-seconds" superchargers it should be no problem. A "rule of thumb" is you should charge with roughly 1 A per 10 Ah capacity, which would be 1.2 A on an AT I believe? Since I have no idea who ever came up with that rule I usually ignore it and use my car charger that does between 3- (empty) down to 1 (full) Amperes. My previous battery lastet more than 6 years so that's what rules of thumbs are worth.
Just don't leave it on too long, an hour is usually more than enough to start the bike. Good luck!
Have you considered buying a Optimax battery charger, it keeps the battery charged at all times, just plug it in and forget, it's available in any motorcycle dealer cost about £40.![]()
I'll give the car charger a whirl and an opti type one in the long term.

I have one of those Halford battery chargers and it has a motorcycle setting. Works fine for me and my battery likes it to

I have a charger, rated for Diesel Engines.. takes 48 hours to trickle charge the TVR Battery... does the bike battery, and even my diving torch.
bought from Halfrauds
