strange ticking noise fom the engine

i can hear this ticking noise, more like a ratle noise from the left side of the engine but the strange thing is it only comes on when the engine is at normal runing temperature and it goes away when at 1500 revs and above. if i go for a longer run and the temp drops to the second line from botom it goes away untill worm again. i have learned to ignore it by now cose i can't hear it when siting on the bike.

    strange or what?

anybody any idea what it might be? any other AT out there with same noises?

Don't worry about it mate. Not many @'s that don't make a strange noise or two. Probably just your valves tapping. No Probs.

Mine seems to make a different noise from a different part of the engine every week. If you think about it you will grow old too quickly. I stopped listening at 50,000 miles. Mind you, I have a bit of a funny noise from the clutch area on the overrun at about 30mph now. No, no, I must be strong and ignore it......
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

if it was a car i would turn the radio louder!

No really, sometimes i forget that the AT is after all an old design engine so i never expected it to be quiet. It is a lot quieter than the f650 gs by the way. we(couriers) wore sitting in linenhall street and this guy started his gs and mark started making fun of his agricultural sounds. he then left and i went over and started my bike then returned to the bench. after a couple of minutes he asks me "is that running?" that says it all.

the transalp i had allways made srange noises, aspecially when stoped beside a wall reflecting up but at over 90k miles when the engine had to be split(gear box output shaft went a few days still under waranthy)the machanic said the inside of the engine was like new, not a mark on it. the oil and filter was changed at 8k and oil every 4k miles.

i will keep ignoring it then!

    Hello there
    Don’t worry abut that noise
Is not valves, just ignore it
If the motor is cold create many noises
Africa twin is not for small distance
If you drive for a long time you hear nothing
